What BinaryTranslator.app does
BinaryTranslator.app converts binary code to text and text to binary. Paste a string of 0s and 1s and you can read it straight away; type a message and you get its binary. It also reads and writes octal, decimal, hex and Base64, and it explains every conversion one character at a time.
Plenty of binary converters already exist. Most of them make you press a button, break on a missing space, or turn emoji and non-English text into question marks. This site exists to fix that: one tool that just works, on any device, in any language.
What we care about
- Instant. Results update as you type. There is no Convert button and no page reload.
- Forgiving. Spaces, commas, line breaks, 7-bit groups and prefixes are all accepted. When something is wrong, the tool says which group and why, instead of failing silently.
- Correct for every language. Text is encoded as UTF-8, so Chinese, Arabic, accented letters and emoji convert and convert back exactly.
- Private. Every conversion runs in your browser. Your text is never uploaded, and there are no accounts. See the privacy policy.
- Free. No sign-up, no limits and no download.
How we keep it accurate
The converter is built on a small codec that is covered by automated tests, including round trips of text in every supported format, malformed input, very long input and multi-byte characters. Every binary example on this site, from the alphabet table to the FAQ answers, is generated by the same code the tool uses, so the examples and the tool can’t disagree.
Who makes it
BinaryTranslator.app is an independent project, built and maintained by a small team that cares about simple, well-made web tools. It is not affiliated with any other website that has “binary translator” in its name.
